OUR CLUB VISION

Unacceptable to Exceptional - Prestwich Golf Club 2030. Club outlines it's short and long term plan to improve all areas.

At Prestwich, we believe strongly in a modern approach to all aspects of a golf club. Maintaining the lowest fees in the area while investing in our staff and course is at the forefront of what we do.

In a similar fashion to our re-writing of how golf clubs at our level operate in business, now is the time to set in motion a modern structure for the development of our golf course.

Our Head Greenkeeper has provided a structured plan to tackle the golf course’s worst areas across a 5-year period. This plan focuses on tangible/achievable upgrades to areas that have needed attention for the best part of 30-years.

Years 1-3 will focus on paths, trees and tees(levelling) and will be achievable under our own growing revenue streams. Years 4-5, then turns attention to larger projects such as completing irrigation to the golf course and further tee development, which may require a potential finance package that also may cover some much needed clubhouse developments.

Phase One of this project will begin in September 2025 and continue through March 2026 to tackle the following areas:

  • 6/7th path brought to standard of 1st tee path
  • 1st hole over hill path brought to standard of 1st tee path
  • Tree removal on 4th to aid growth on green and tee area

This plan combined with a structured approach to standards on the course and grounds will ensure that the club builds on the stability and success of the last 2-years and 2026 will be the best year yet on our exciting journey.

The full 5-year document can be found here. Additionally we’ve prepared FAQ’s below that we think may cover some of the basic questions raised.

Simply put, there is no additional spending there is just a plan in place to ensure any money that we usually spend is now geared toward achieving one larger end goal rather than individual projects across seasonal periods.

Crucially the spending is planned as to not endanger our current cash flow position which the club has fought hard to achieve. Path 6/7 will be completed this side of winter and path 2 the other side, with the tree work falling throghout.

The main document linked in the article goes into more detail on this area. However at this stage we would simply be doing our due diligence on finance options to achieve the larger jobs the club will require in 4-5 years time.

Years 1-3 simply involve redirecting the typical small seasonal winter spend toward a larger longer-term goal. HOWEVER large financing packages to tackle irrigation, balcony and club house developments absolutely require a vote!

This is why individuals will be seeking information and plans across the next 12-months to the present to the membership to vote on should/if they be suitable/viable.

It’s already started! You may have noticed work on 6/7 and tree work already completed! Our aim is to complete the 1st path in Feb/March.
